VPN can also be accessed from Android, If you have any Android tablet or phone you can easily connect to a VPN. We have several uses of VPN on android some of them like:

1. If you are using a public Wi-Fi then you can encrypt your browsing using the VPN
2. If you want to have an app on your tablet or phone which is currently not available in your country you can use a VPN to download the app
3. You can use a VPN to connect to a company network when you are on road

This app works on Android 4.0 and higher and will not require any root. If you want to use the OpenVPN network in Android version 2.3 or older then you need to root your device


Depending on the VPN you are using, You need to have some dedicated VPN app instead of integrated VPN support on android.
For example Tunnel Bear app has its dedicated app that handles Tunnel Bear VPN Connections



For PPTP and L2TP VPNs android has integrated support built in. And you can connect to such VPNs without having to install third part app's on your tablet or phone.
In order to connect to a compatible version of VPN, you need to go to settings app and then tap on more under Wireless & networks and in android 2.3 or older tap Wireless & networks
Now tap VPN in Wireless & networks screen and in android 2.3 or older tap VPN settings



Now you need to Tap + button and fill in the VPN details as stated below
Name: any name for your VPN
Type: type of VPN which you are connecting to
Server address: enter either your server address or numerical IP address (example: vpn.example.com or 134.678.89.0)




and leave the remaining check box's and other things as it is and click save button. And your VPN details get's saved.

Next you can see your newly created VPN with the name you have given. Tap the VPN to connect. You can even have Multiple VPNs saved and switch between them from the VPN screen.
It will ask you for username and password when you click on the created VPN. Just give the username and password which you got from VPN site and click connect. you can save the login details so it will not ask you when connecting from second time.





While connected to a VPN, you will see a persistent “VPN activated” notification in your notifications drawer. To disconnect, tap the notification and tap Disconnect.




Android 4.2 Option Always-on VPN Mode

Android 4.2 has an extra option of always-on vpn mode which makes the data to be sent only through VPN. it can be very useful while you are using public Wi-Fi and when you want to ensure your VPN is always used. In order to enable this option you need to first create a VPN an save your account information. Then you will get and extra option in menue button just like below screen shot. just click on it and activate the Always-on VPN mode
